Enormous crowds
In the busiest months, as many as 10,000 visitors may arrive per day. That means more traffic, more emissions and unsafe streets.
What is about to happen?
In Masterplan 2030, Artis zoo presents big plans in small steps. The full picture is alarming for direct neighbours and the entire neighbourhood.
Four big problems:
Gigantic buildings on the edges of the park
The planned WKO services building will be a massive complex. Green disappears, stone appears. The noise nuisance expected from the enormous 'wall of Artis' is huge. The new parking building also threatens to become a colossal structure.
Restaurants, and even more restaurants
Artis already has eight food and drink outlets on its grounds. Yet according to Masterplan 2030, Artis wants even more.
Artis: a costly day out
Artis wants to be a zoo for all Amsterdammers. Meanwhile, ticket prices have risen spectacularly. Currently: €30 per adult and €27.50 per child.
